Everything you see here is built the way I teach it. Human-led. AI-leveraged.
I use a range of AI tools every working day. Writing. Researching. Building. Refining. I review and sign off on everything. The thinking is mine. The output is faster, sharper and more consistent because of the collaboration.
That is the Augmented Workforce in action. Not AI replacing a human. A human using AI to do her best work. It is what I teach. It is exactly how this website, and any other content you see from me, is built.
I grew up in Northern NSW, around the coastline. A brother who was a surf lifesaver. A cousin who was a mad keen surfer. Plenty of family who were anglers. All of them taught me to respect the water. To sit. To watch. To enter only when you knew what you were facing.
That is the same posture I bring to AI. Different water.
The Augmented Workforce is a model of work where humans lead the decisions, the judgement and the relationships. AI handles the drafting, the research and the repeatable work that drains time. Built on guardrails first. Declared, not hidden. Practical, not theoretical. Available to any Australian organisation that sets the guardrails first.
It is the version where AI makes the decisions, humans check the work and nobody is quite sure who is accountable when something goes wrong. It is moving fast, it looks impressive and it is producing a particular kind of anxiety in boardrooms, regional councils and one-person businesses across Australia.

Humans lead. AI is leveraged. You get AI to handle the things you do not want to do, the things that drain time and attention and never quite get to the top of the pile. So you can focus on the things only you can do. Your judgement. Your relationships. Your expertise. The irreplaceable human bits.
That is it. That is the whole idea. It sounds straightforward. Getting there, in a real organisation with real people, competing priorities and real governance concerns, takes more than turning on a new tool and hoping for the best.
Augmented Workforce flips the order. Humans lead. AI is leveraged. Always in that direction.
Your people are already using AI. On their phones, in their personal accounts, in ways your organisation has not officially sanctioned yet. They are not waiting for a strategy document. They are getting on with it.
The risk is not adoption. The risk is adoption without guardrails.
Without a plan. Without anyone having thought through what happens when it goes sideways. That is the conversation most organisations have not had yet.
HOW I LIVE IT
The Augmented Workforce is not theoretical for me. It is how I run the business.
Pete, my husband, runs our life on the road. Operations, logistics, the caravan, the fur kids. Military-grade. Without him, none of this works.
A range of AI tools draft, research, sense-check and build with me every working day. From this website to emails, social media posts, keynote scripts, frameworks and client proposals.
Nicole Hatherly is my brand strategist. Together we have shaped the positioning, the architecture, the messaging spine. I sign off. The foundations are hers.
Photographers, designers, copywriters and VAs come in for specific work. Real humans, paid properly, named where permission allows.
Accountants, lawyers, the practical people who keep a business legal and solvent. All human. All necessary.
A team, by any other name. Some carbon-based. Some silicon. All of them required.
AI tools sit across my working day. Research. Drafting. Editing. Workflow design. Building this site.
Declared, not hidden. Every email I send carries a sign-off line:
Human-led. AI-leveraged. My philosophy, my business, this email. The Augmented Workforce in action.
The principle is simple. If a tool worked on something I sent you, you should know. Privacy and ethics are not an afterthought. They are the rules of engagement.
For the full breakdown of which tools, when and how I use them: How I Use AI β
THE FOUR PRINCIPLES
The decisions, the relationships, the judgement calls. Mine. The drafting, the research, the formatting, the workflow. My AI team. The order matters.
If a tool worked on it, that gets named. The email PS line. The author bio. The about page. The social media post. No reverse-engineering required.
What can you do with this on Monday morning? If the answer is wait six months for a strategy document, then I am in the wrong room.
The AI team researches and drafts. I rewrite and tweak as needed. The voice that lands is mine. No exceptions.
The Augmented Workforce is not a special model reserved for a small business on the road. It is how any organisation can work, once the guardrails are agreed.
Boards work this way: ethics and governance lead, AI follows.
Leadership teams work this way: a per-role blueprint that says exactly what AI does and what humans never delegate.
Frontline teams work this way: the prompts and the agents exist. The people decide when to use them.

Ask the team, plainly. No blame. No tracking software. Just: which AI tools are in use, in which accounts, for what tasks?
Sales data in personal ChatGPT. Client information in free Claude. Confidential documents pasted into something nobody approved. Every organisation has at least one.
The tools that earn their keep do real work. Drafting, summarising, coding, customer responses. The ones that do not get retired.
Ahead means you have a policy, a roadmap and trained people. Behind means you have surprises waiting.
If the answers worry you, that is the signal. Not panic. Just attention.
